Why Your Support Matters

In Tamale, Ghana, child labor and school dropouts are common – not because children don’t want to learn, but because they must work or take care of siblings to support family income.

Many women are illiterate, without income, and socially isolated.

Young men face unemployment, lack of prospects, and the risk of being drawn into criminal or militant environments.

We provide real alternatives: education, entrepreneurship, counseling, and community.

Our Core Initiatives

1. The Schools in Tamale – East & West

Two safe learning spaces for up to 60 children aged 2–12:

  • East School: A stable start and foundation for the youngest.
  • West School: A supportive place for older children from vulnerable homes, often with difficult backgrounds.

2. SafeSteps – Breaking Isolation for Women

Group programs for women living in silence or with poor networks – some facing violence, shame, or economic dependence.

We focus on building skills, confidence, and networks so they can take ownership of their lives and futures.

3. PowerSteps – Discipline and Belonging Through Sport

An outdoor boxing program for young men at risk.

They gain training, mentorship, and a positive path forward – away from crime and radicalization, which is becoming a growing concern in Ghana.

4. GuideSteps & StepUp Ventures – Parents and Youth as Change Agents

We equip parents with knowledge, structure, and community – with child psychology as a core theme.

We help young people and parents start their own initiatives and create sustainable incomes.

5. HairBank – Social Entrepreneurship for Women

In partnership with HairBank, we offer young women without education the chance to learn hairdressing from scratch – combined with business skills, customer service, and hygiene training.

For many, it’s their first step toward financial independence.

How We Work

  • Local Leadership: All our projects in Tamale are led by local leaders.
  • Volunteer Board: In Denmark, the board works entirely on a voluntary basis – and leadership members personally contribute financially to the projects.
  • Only Local Staff Are Paid: Salaries are only paid to employees in Ghana.
  • Direct Investment: We invest in our own initiatives, ensuring every donation reaches the project directly.

Our Impact estimated in 2025

  • East/West Schools: 60 children
  • GuideSteps/VentureSteps: 60–80 parents and youth
  • PowerSteps: 10–15 young men
  • SafeSteps: 40–60 women a year
  • HairBank: Up to 3 women a year

We have direct contact with around 200 people each year – and even more through our extended community network.
